Aura Navan’s Indoor Triathlon challenge returns by public demand
News released: 27th March 2009
Fitness enthusiasts and those looking to get in shape for the summer have the perfect opportunity thanks to a special ‘Aura Navan Indoor Triathlon’ gym challenge, which is scheduled to take place at Aura Leisurelink on Friday, May 8th.
The event is returning for its second year at the request of Aura members and ‘Pay As You Go’ customers of all ages and fitness levels, who are all interested in a fresh individual or team fitness challenge this summer.
“We held the indoor triathlon here at Aura Leisurelink in May last year and close to 50 members and customers participated and had a great time. Since the New Year, everyone has been asking our gym instructors when this year’s challenge would be taking place,” explained Lorna Donegan, Operations Manager at Aura Leisurelink Navan.
“We have all different levels of fitness here at Aura so while our indoor triathlon will give serious athletes the chance to prepare properly for a similar outdoor event that they might be targeting, it will also give those people who are not so fit the opportunity to take part, get in shape and have some fun at the same time.”
‘Aura Navan Indoor Triathlon’ will consist of a 500m swim in Aura’s 25-metre swimming pool, 12km on the stationary bike and a 5km run on the treadmill. Individuals or teams of three can enter the event, allowing one person to complete the swim, the cycle or the run.
“We have received a great response from both members and customers and we believe that several teams have already been formed and are in training. Everyone is looking forward to it and there is a friendly rivalry building up already,” added Lorna.
“As an added incentive, we will be awarding a number of special prizes to the winners, once all the times have been tallied.”
Those interested in competing in ‘Aura Navan Indoor Triathlon’, can sign up now at reception for a personalised training programme which will help them to get in shape for the event. The entry fee is €10.
