Pilates proves a huge hit with locals

News released: 23rd Oct 2009

Killarney people who are looking to try some alternative exercise classes need look no further than Killarney Sports and Leisure who are re-launching their popular Pilates courses this winter.

The classes are an ideal choice for anyone interested in learning some new exercise techniques. They are a great option for anyone who wants to improve their posture, strength and flexibility. The course teaches people how to align their body correctly and focuses on coordination, concentration and control of the body.

The benefits of Pilates are numerous because it improves overall body fitness. It is different to a standard exercise class because the focus is on the body and mind balance as well as the physical aspects of exercise.

“Pilates is a form of exercise which people do not automatically think of when it comes to starting a new training programme, but it is a course which is gaining in popularity here because it has a variety of different health benefits,” explained Paul Cullinan, Operations Manager at Killarney Sports and Leisure.

“One of the best things about this exercise method is that it suits a wide range of people. It is the perfect activity for those who want to develop their core strength and improve their flexibility. Pilates helps to reshape the body so that it becomes longer, leaner and more toned,” explained Paul.

The Pilates course commences on Thursday, 5th November with two classes taking place every Thursday evening. The Beginners class starts at 7 p.m. and the Intermediate class starts at 8 p.m. Classes cost €60 for the six weeks.

Killarney Sports and Leisure is now offering people the opportunity to exercise at a discounted rate. The new special membership offer means that if you sign up for a twelve month membership during the month of November you get €200 off the full price.

“People are naturally more price conscious during a recession and we are committed to ensuring that anyone who wants to keep up their exercise routine can continue do so at a price they can afford. This membership offer is a great incentive to anyone looking to kick start their winter fitness plan or shape up for the festive season,” explained Paul.

For further information about the Pilates classes or any of the special membership offers taking place at Aura Killarney contact reception at 064 6636554.
