Oisin’s tribute to Mum wins first prize in Mother’s Day competition at Aura Dundalk
News released: 30th March 2009
Eleven-year old Oisin is the toast of the MacBride household in Dundalk this week after he won himself and his mum a year’s free membership to Aura Dundalk by coming first in a Mother’s Day competition that was held recently at the leisure centre.
His mum Liz was especially pleased as Oisin also earned her a free beauty pampering treatment at ‘Beyond Beauty’ in Dundalk as part of the prize.
Aura decided to hold the competition to celebrate Mother’s Day and also in recognition of all the mums who regularly use the centre for Aqua, Pilates, Yoga and various other fitness classes and courses.
Aura invited children to tell them why their mother is ‘The Best Mum in the World’ in 20 words or less. Oisin came first for his tribute, saying that his mum, ‘always bends over backwards, can cook and is a best friend to all five of us’.
“We were inundated with entries in the lead-up to Mother’s Day from children who are members and those who were visiting us with the parents as ‘Pay As You Go’ customers. The standard was very high, but we decided that Oisin’s entry was a deserving winner,” said Josephine Pepper, Operations Manager at Aura Dundalk Leisure Centre.
“Oisin and Liz were delighted with their prize as Liz visits the centre to use our gym and take part in our fitness classes and they both regularly use our pools for fun and swimming lessons. Now they can enjoy all of our facilities for free,” added Josephine.
Meanwhile, all children who use Aura’s swimming pools during the Easter Fitness camps will have their name entered into a special draw to win an extra-large Easter egg. Local school children are continuing to enrol for the camps, which are scheduled to take place over nine days from Monday, April 6th to Thursday, April 16th.
The camps have something for children of all ages and abilities, including ‘Intensive Swim Sessions’ which are scheduled to take place from Monday, April 6th to Friday, April 10th and from Tuesday, April 14th to Friday, April 17th. Children can also learn new life saving skills in the Rookie Lifeguard camp which runs from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. on Monday, April 6th to Friday, April 10th and costs €80 for the week.
