Great day out in store at Aura Family Fun Day

Families looking for a fun day out have the perfect opportunity to enjoy themselves this month with Aura Dundalk Leisure Centre extending an open invitation to its Summer Family Fun Day.

Aura is one of the most popular family recreational centres in Dundalk and staff at the centre have been busy organising a host of activities for children and adults to enjoy when the event takes place on Sunday, July 19th.

“Our Summer Family Fun Day is one of the busiest days of the year and we have plenty for families with children of all ages to enjoy. There is no entry fee and all of our staff are looking forward to meeting members and visitors and to answering questions about our ‘Pay as You Go’ service, our fitness classes, or about how to enrol in the Aura Swim Academy,” explained Sarah Byrne, Operations Manager at Aura Dundalk Leisure Centre.

All the fun gets underway at 12 p.m. when ‘Minnie Mouse’ makes a visit to Aura to instruct the family aqua aerobics class. The class promises plenty of entertainment as the popular Disney character puts everyone through their paces in Aura’s 25 metre pool and learner pool.

A ‘Race Hour’ will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. giving parents and children the opportunity to make their mark in egg and spoon races, while children can also team up with their parents for three-legged races before cheering on their parents in mums and dads races.

Ten great prizes are up for grabs as part of the Kids Treasure Hunt which takes place at 4 p.m. Participants will need all their treasure hunting skills to find the prizes which have been carefully hidden throughout Aura Dundalk Leisure Centre.

Parents with children under four years of age can enter their child in the Bonny Baby Competition which has two categories, one for children under 2 years of age and one from children from 2-4 years.

Children can also enjoy face painting, a bouncy castle and novelty games throughout the day with something to interest children of all ages. Aura’s fully qualified swim instructors will host fun games in the pool throughout the day with hourly fun swims costing just €1.

Families in Dundalk will also be pleased to hear that Aura Dundalk has reduced its family swim rates from €21 to €15 for the months of July and August so that they can make the most of the facility when their children are on their school holidays. Its Gym or Swim rate has also been reduced to €5 before 4.30 p.m. and to €7 after 4.30 p.m. Monday to Friday, while the rate on Saturdays and Sundays is just €7 during each day.
