Aura Swim Academy a huge success story
News released: 23rd Oct 2009
Aura Tullamore Leisure Centre is celebrating its first Birthday in style with the news that its Aura ‘Swim Academy’ has gone from strength to strength in the last year with its numbers doubling in the last two months alone.
“We are delighted that so many children are joining our Aura ‘Swim Academy’ which is as much about having fun as it is about learning to swim. The fact that the number of children we are teaching to swim has doubled in the last two months alone is a testament to the top class facilities and staff that we have here at Aura,” said Alun Davies, Operations Manager at Aura Tullamore Leisure Centre.
“Aura Tullamore is now well established as the place where children learn and love to swim and Aura ‘Swim Academy’ has become the first choice for youngsters who want to learn this valuable life skill,” Alun added.
“The real reason why swimming has become so popular in Tullamore is because our classes take place in a fun, non-competitive environment. Aura ‘Swim Academy’ is also seen as the ideal solution for parents seeking to maintain a child’s interest in sport and exercise in instances where the child’s ability may have been the cause of a bad experience at a sports club,” he added.
Word of the success of Aura ‘Swim Academy’ has travelled fast and parents from all over the area have started to enrol their children for the next set of lessons, which are scheduled to get underway on Monday, November 2nd. Enrolment costs €73.50 for the ten weeks and includes a free skills assessment. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment and a 10% discount applies for Aura members.
Aura would also like to remind people that they have just launched the first ‘Aura Swimming Club’ in the centre.
The ‘Aura Swimming Club’ is ideal for youngsters who already know how to swim but want to further develop their swimming technique and ability.
“As far as we are aware, it is the first swimming club that Tullamore has seen in the last few years. We feel it is hugely important that children have the facility to further their swimming talent and realise their full swimming potential” added Alun.
“The Swimming Club is perfect for children who have graduated from the Aura ‘Swim Academy’. The training is targeted at youngsters who are interested in advancing their swim skills or progressing to competitive club swimming. The coaching will help youngsters improve their swimming stamina, endurance and speed,” explained Alun.
The ‘Aura Swimming Club’ Dragons swim class take place every Monday at 5.30p.m. and the Sharks swim class takes place every Friday evening at 5.30 p.m. The classes cost €80 for the ten weeks.
Aura is also catering for young children with their ‘Beginners Swimming’ classes. These classes are for children under 4 years of age and are a basic introductory session to the water. The ‘Beginners Swimming’ classes take place every Monday and Wednesday at 11a.m. and every Thursday at 2p.m., 4p.m and 4.30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
There are also parent and toddler swim classes every Monday and Friday morning at 11 a.m. These classes cater for children from 6 months to 2 years.
