Christmas countdown begins with ‘Successful Slimmers’ course at Aura

The countdown to Christmas is officially underway at Aura Tullamore Leisure Centre where a fun challenge has been set for those who want to get into shape and look their best for the festive season.

The ‘Successful Slimmers’ Christmas challenge is a weight loss exercise programme which runs for the nine weeks leading up to Christmas.

The programme is made up of a series of exercise classes, health seminars and weigh-ins to help participants lose the required one stone over the course of nine weeks.

“All participants will be assessed at the beginning of the course to establish their fitness levels and will then be guided and coached in lifestyle, nutritional and exercise techniques which suit their individual needs. We are giving everyone the opportunity to get fit and to have fun in doing so. All you need is the dedication to see it through,” explained Alun Davies, Operations Manager at Aura Tullamore Leisure Centre.

“Successful Slimmers’ really works by motivating the course members to get fit through group exercise sessions and one-to-one meetings with our fitness instructors. We aim to show people how it is possible to get in shape and have fun at the same time,” added Alun.

The new ‘Successful Slimmers’ classes get underway on Thursday, October 22nd. Classes take place every Thursday evening at 8 p.m. The course costs €85 for non-members and €50 for Aura members.

Aura is reminding parents who are looking to keep their children entertained over the Halloween break that they are now taking enrolments for their Halloween camp.

Aura’s ‘Fun Multi Activity Camp’ has something on offer to suit everyone. The camp offers children the chance to try their hand at a variety of different sports and activities including swimming, outdoor games, Wii-fit, Zig-Zag dance, fitness classes and a fancy dress party.

The camp takes place from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Tuesday, October 27th to Friday, October 30th. The camp costs €80 for the week and €70 for Aura members.

Aura is also reminding parents that there are an increased number of fun swim sessions taking place during the Halloween holidays. These swim sessions are ideal for keeping youngsters entertained as they allow children to have fun in a safe and supervised water environment. The swim sessions take place every Monday to Friday between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and the cost is €4.45 per child.
