Aura treats Meath kids to free swim to celebrate swim school success

News released: 9th Oct 2009

- 6,227 taught to swim in one year -

Aura is giving hundreds of children from Meath the opportunity to swim for free as it celebrates its success in having taught 6,227 locals to swim or to improve their swimming skills during the past 12 months.

Aura Trim Leisure Centre and Aura Leisurelink Navan are distributing hundreds of vouchers throughout Meath which entitle children to a free one hour swim during any public swim session providing they are accompanied by an adult.

“This is our way of giving something back to the many families who have made the Aura Swim Academy such a success. The free swim is also intended to encourage parents to start exercising with their children,” explained Josephine Pepper, Aura Eastern Regional Manager.

“Aura is well known as the place where children learn and love to swim and Aura Swim Academy has become the first choice for youngsters who want to learn this valuable life skill,” Josephine added.

Aura is also experiencing a marked increase in the number of parents and adults enrolling in swimming classes and in the past year, its fully qualified swim instructors have taught 578 adults to swim or to improve their swimming skills.

“We cater for all ages with classes for parents and toddlers and under fours while Aura Swim Academy provides a bright and positive learning environment with classes which are designed to build children’s confidence and self esteem,” Josephine explained.

“Swimming is a fantastic way to keep children occupied and to enjoy quality time as a family.
It allows children to burn off energy and to improve their swimming skills while also providing an opportunity for parents who don’t exercise that regularly to improve their fitness,” she continued.

“The real reason why swimming has become so popular in Navan and Trim is because our classes take place in a fun, non-competitive environment. Aura Swim Academy is also seen as the ideal solution for parents seeking to maintain a child’s interest in sport and exercise in instances where the child’s ability may have been the cause of a bad experience at a sports club,” she added.

Children completing the 10 week Aura Swim Academy are also progressing to the Aura Rookie Lifeguard course which equips youngsters with all the skills they require to save lives while also providing them with a solid foundation should they wish to undertake professional lifeguard training in the future.

“We are hoping that all the free swim offers will be taken up before the offer expires on October 31st. Each voucher gives families the opportunity to save €4.20 and we look forward to celebrating our success with our many customers,” Josephine added.
