Future sports stars to perfect their skills at Aura

Youngsters with ambitions of becoming the next Brian O’ Driscoll or Michael Jordan have the perfect opportunity to perfect their sporting skills this winter thanks to Aura Letterkenny Leisure Complex which its attracting dozens of children to its popular ‘Aura Coaching Academy’.
The ‘Aura Coaching Academy’ is offering youngsters the chance to develop some new sporting talents with the launch of its Basketball and Tag rugby Coaching sessions.
The young rugby stars will be put through their paces in the Tag Rugby coaching classes by players from the local Letterkenny Rugby Club. These classes will comprise of a selection of drills and skills to help youngsters improve their rugby talents.
For any aspiring basketball stars the Basketball coaching will provide an opportunity for children to develop their skills with a programme focusing on training drills to help them learn more about the sport and improve on their game.
The coaching sessions cater for children aged 6 years and over and the classes are specifically designed to provide basic introductory training to both sports.
“The ‘Aura Coaching Academy’ provides an ideal opportunity for children to try out new sports. The coaching sessions are really a beginner’s introduction to both these sports so that youngsters can eventually progress on to play with their local basketball clubs and rugby teams. It also provides a great opportunity for children to learn from seasoned coaches and players who can give them tips and advice on how to improve their game,” explained Patricia Coyle, Operations Manager at Aura Letterkenny Leisure Complex.
The tag rugby coaching takes place every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. The basketball coaching takes place every Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Both classes are an hour long and cost €3 per child.
Aura would also like to remind all local soccer stars about the winter 7-aside Soccer League which has just kicked off in the centre. Aura Letterkenny is inviting everyone to put a team together for the league which will run over the course of six weeks with games taking place every Friday evening at 6p.m.
“A large number of teams have already signed up to the tournament which costs just €200 per team. It is providing a great opportunity to get out and get fit and to have some fun during the winter months and the competition promises to deliver some great games,” explained Patricia Coyle, Operations Manager at Aura Letterkenny Leisure Complex.
“As an extra incentive there is also a prize of €500 for the overall winner of the competition which adds a little more competitive edge to the league. This is the ideal opportunity for local soccer enthusiasts to keep fit, improve their soccer skills and possibly win some money for their teams,” added Patricia.
